Bellemore Homes has had over 30 years of turning peoples “dream” homes into a reality.

When selling and buying a new home isn’t an option, you could consider subdivision or dualocc (dual-occupancy). Property developer Mr Pateras from Bellemore Homes shares his advice on what can be a tricky subject for some.

If you are reluctant to borrow with the high costs associated with buying a house or requiring substantial capital to complete extensive renovations to an existing property, what should you do? Subdivision or dual-occupancy may be your best option.

For blocks with a frontage of more than 16m, or blocks with room to put a side driveway in, it can often be an option to demolish the old house and build two new homes. This can be either side by side or front to back. One of these houses can be sold and the property owner then keeps one to live in, effectively transferring land into a new home.
